CJP protest march on September 5: Delhi Police yet to receive request

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have said they have not received any request for a protest march from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters, despite the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announcing plans for a demonstration on September 5.

“We have not received any request letter so far. If we receive any request, we will review it accordingly,” a police source said on Monday.

The CJP has announced the protest march for Teachers’ Day, accusing the Centre of failing to fulfil assurances made on July 25 that led the outfit to withdraw its 36-day agitation over alleged irregularities in examinations.

According to a statement issued by the party, the march will begin at India Gate and proceed towards the Delhi Police Headquarters.

The demonstration is expected to be led by families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the cancellation of the NEET examination and the subsequent re-test. Families of those who were allegedly subjected to police excesses during the July agitation are also expected to participate.

The decision to hold the march was taken at a meeting of the CJP National Working Committee on Monday, nearly a month after the outfit called off its agitation following talks with the Centre.
