Delhi CJP protest: Critically injured woman off ventilator, recovering well at RML Hospital

The 21-year-old woman who sustained critical injuries during Monday's Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest in Delhi is showing encouraging signs of recovery, with doctors at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital confirming that she has been taken off ventilator support and is now breathing on her own.

According to the hospital's latest medical update, the woman is conscious, responding appropriately to commands and has shown steady clinical improvement since being admitted for treatment. Doctors also said MRI scans of her brain and spine have returned normal, indicating no major neurological injury.

The hospital said she continues to receive comprehensive medical care and remains under close observation by the treating team. Although her condition has improved, she is still being monitored as part of her ongoing recovery.

Medical officials also confirmed that she is currently the only patient admitted to RML Hospital in connection with the violence that erupted during the protest march.

The latest health update comes a day after clashes broke out during the CJP's march towards Parliament, leaving several protesters and police personnel injured. According to Delhi Police, more than 118 police personnel sustained injuries during the violence, while around 60 protesters were also reported injured.

The protest turned violent after demonstrators allegedly attempted to breach security barricades. Police claimed protesters pelted stones and other objects, vandalised police and government vehicles, and damaged public property in parts of Connaught Place and Parliament Street. FIRs have since been registered against unidentified persons in connection with the alleged violence.

The condition of the injured woman has also drawn political attention.

On Tuesday, Union Health Minister JP Nadda visited RML Hospital to meet those injured during the clashes and reviewed the medical treatment being provided. He also held discussions with doctors regarding the condition of the patients before leaving the hospital.

Later, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also visited RML Hospital and met the injured protesters.
