Fact Check: Viral ‘bring sticks, pepper spray’ claims surface ahead of CJP’s June 6 Delhi protest

A fresh social media controversy has erupted ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) planned protest in Delhi, with viral posts alleging that supporters have been instructed to “bring sticks” and “turn India into Nepal” during the demonstration.

The claims have gained traction online in the days leading up to the June 6 protest at Jantar Mantar, where CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is expected to lead a campaign demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over examination-related controversies.

Several users have shared videos and posts suggesting that the upcoming protest could turn confrontational. The viral content claims that participants have been encouraged to carry sticks and replicate the kind of political unrest seen in Nepal. However, no official statement from the Cockroach Janta Party has publicly endorsed such calls.

The controversy comes at a crucial moment for the movement, which has been mobilising supporters around allegations of irregularities in major examinations and recruitment processes, including NEET, CBSE-linked concerns and other entrance and recruitment tests.

During the group's first formal press conference on June 3, newly appointed spokespersons sought to frame the June 6 gathering as a democratic protest aimed at demanding accountability from authorities.

The organisation also introduced three spokespersons who will represent the campaign before the media and the public—Saurav Das, Vijeta Dahiya and Ashutosh Ranka.
