Centre appoints Chief Justices to eight High Courts following Collegium recommendations

Eight new High Court Chief Justices were officially appointed on Saturday, following the recent recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the official clearances in a post on X:

• Patna High Court: Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao (transferred from Delhi High Court)

• Calcutta High Court: Justice Ravindra V Ghuge (transferred from Bombay High Court)

• Rajasthan High Court: Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal (transferred from Chhattisgarh High Court)

• Bombay High Court: Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi (transferred from Allahabad High Court)

• Punjab and Haryana High Court: Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra (elevated within Punjab and Haryana High Court)

• Chhattisgarh High Court: Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra (transferred from Orissa High Court)

• Madhya Pradesh High Court: Justice Alpesh Yeshwant Kogje (transferred from Gujarat High Court)

• Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court: Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati (transferred from Rajasthan High Court)

The leadership change at the Rajasthan High Court follows a period of controversy triggered by grave, unprecedented allegations made by Supreme Court judge Sandeep Mehta against Rajasthan Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. (PTI)
