Ceasefire breach in Rajasthan? Barmer district collector clarifies reports of drone activity

Barmer, Rajasthan: Barely a day after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following Operation Sindoor, reports of drone activity triggered fresh tension along the border in Rajasthan's Barmer district on Sunday night.

Barmer District Collector issued a late-night alert on the social media platform X, urging residents to stay indoors and observe a complete blackout.

“INCOMING DRONES ACTIVITY SPOTTED. Pls stay inside your houses and observe the blackout. DM Barmer,” the post read.

However, the District Collector issued a follow-up tweet just hours after the initial post, stating that social media reports claiming the Army shot down a drone in Barmer were "completely factually incorrect." The tweet added that the district administration categorically denies all rumours circulating on social media.

Meanwhile, there has been no official confirmation yet from the Indian defence establishment regarding the nature or origin of the reported drone activity.

The incident comes just a day after a ceasefire agreement was reached between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, following intense cross-border strikes by India targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under Operation Sindoor.
