Amritsar: The Border Security Force (BSF) has continued its successful crackdown on cross-border smuggling, intercepting and recovering two narcotics-laden drones in Punjab's Amritsar on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a BSF press release, the two DJI Mavic 3 Classic drones, carrying a total of 1.130 kilograms of heroin, were intercepted and neutralised using technical countermeasures deployed along the Amritsar border. BSF troops then recovered the drones and drug packets from an area adjacent to Dhanoe Kalan village. The BSF emphasised that these successful operations are a testament to the "perfect combination of robust technical countermeasures and alert BSF troops," aimed at thwarting "nefarious designs of cross-border Pakistani drug syndicate."

This latest recovery follows two significant operations conducted by the BSF in Punjab's Tarn Taran district on Sunday. In the early morning, BSF troops found the upper body of a pistol and four magazines wrapped in yellow adhesive tape in a waterlogged paddy field near Wan village. Later that morning, acting on specific intelligence, a joint search operation with Punjab Police led to the recovery of a DJI Matrice 300 RTK drone carrying a large packet of heroin weighing 3.700 kilograms from a farming field near Shekhpura village. The narcotics were found attached to the drone with a metal ring.

These recent incidents underscore the ongoing attempts by Pakistan-based smugglers to funnel drugs and arms into Punjab using drone technology. The BSF's consistent vigilance and swift action have repeatedly foiled these attempts.
