NDA names CP Radhakrishnan as Vice Presidential candidate

New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has officially nominated C.P. Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election, scheduled for September 9. A veteran leader with a long political journey, Radhakrishnan currently serves as the Governor of Maharashtra and has previously held gubernatorial charges in Jharkhand, Telangana, and Puducherry.
PM Modi hails Radhakrishnan’s dedication and humility
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on X, praised the NDA nominee’s lifelong commitment to public service. Calling him a figure of “dedication, humility and intellect,” Modi noted that Radhakrishnan has consistently worked to empower the marginalised and has made a lasting impact through grassroots work in Tamil Nadu.
“During the various positions he has held, he has always focused on community service and empowering the marginalised,” the PM wrote, adding, “I am glad that the NDA family has decided to nominate him as the Vice Presidential candidate of our alliance.”
Manjhi, Nadda back candidature
Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi also expressed firm support, declaring that NDA stood united “from the streets to the Parliament.”
BJP National President JP Nadda said the nomination was the outcome of extensive deliberations within the party’s top leadership, chaired by the Prime Minister himself. He also urged opposition parties to rise above politics and support Radhakrishnan’s candidature.

C.P. Radhakrishnan, a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu politics, has twice been elected to the Lok Sabha from Coimbatore and has served as the BJP state president.
Vice Presidential poll set for September 9
The Vice Presidential election was triggered by the resignation of incumbent Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Election Commission has set August 22 as the last date for filing nominations, with voting scheduled for September 9.
