Mocking PM Modi’s chaiwala background: BJP slams Congress leader’s AI video

New Delhi: Congress is facing renewed backlash after circulating an AI-generated video that mocks Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “chaiwala” origins, prompting strong reactions from the BJP.
The AI video, shared on social media by Congress leader Ragini Nayak, shows PM Modi walking down an aisle at a global event and selling tea.
BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned the clip on X, saying, “After Renuka Choudhary insults Parliament & Sena now Ragini Nayak attacks and mocks PM Modi’s Chaiwala background. Naamdar Congress cannot stand a Kamdar PM from OBC community who has come from a poor background. They mocked his Chaiwala background earlier too. They abused him 150 times. They abused his mother in Bihar. People will never forgive them.”
In September, an FIR was registered against Congress leaders for allegedly circulating an AI-generated video that purportedly maligned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother. The video was shared on September 10 through the official social media handle of INC Bihar on platform X.
The Bihar Congress unit has defended the video, insisting it was not intended to disrespect the Prime Minister or his mother. Pawan Khera, head of Congress’ media and publicity department, said: "What is their objection? Just because a mother is trying to educate her son to do something right, where is the disrespect? This is neither disrespectful to the mother, whom we respect dearly, nor to the son."
