Ruling party MP loses cool in LS; Opposition takes a dig

New Delhi: A heated moment unfolded in the Lok Sabha when BJP MP Bishnu Pada Ray lost his temper, prompting Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju to intervene and pacify him. Ray, who represents Andaman and Nicobar Islands, appeared visibly agitated and directed his frustration towards BJP chief whip Sanjay Jaiswal.
Seated on the treasury benches, Ray raised his voice, drawing the attention of fellow members. Rijiju quickly approached him in an attempt to defuse the situation, while BJP MP Jagdambika Pal also urged him to remain calm. However, Ray responded sharply to Pal’s intervention.
The opposition seized the moment to take a dig at the ruling party. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi remarked that Ray’s voice was being stifled and requested the Chair to allow him to speak.
Later, Ray appeared to have regained his composure and actively countered Congress MPs during discussions on supplementary demands for grants, excess grants, and the Manipur Budget.
