Sitamarhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led NDA government, accusing it of widespread electoral malpractice during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking at a rally in Sitamarhi district as part of his ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, Gandhi alleged that the BJP “stole votes” in at least 70–80 parliamentary constituencies last year.

“I can say with full confidence that the BJP indulged in vote chori in at least 70–80 Lok Sabha seats in the last parliamentary polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Election Commission are vote thieves. I will expose them in the coming six months,” Gandhi declared before a cheering crowd.

He further claimed that the BJP’s strategy extended beyond parliamentary elections. According to him, the party allegedly manipulated voters’ lists in Maharashtra after the general elections, which helped it win subsequent assembly polls. Watch the video below:

“The BJP will first steal your votes, then your other rights. Gujarat model means vote chori,” Gandhi added. His remarks come amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, a process which opposition parties have already flagged as susceptible to misuse.

What are Rahul Gandhi’s allegations?

Rahul Gandhi’s “vote chori” allegation refers to his charge that the BJP manipulated and tampered with the electoral process during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. According to him, the ruling party “stole votes” in at least 70–80 parliamentary seats by adding forged names to voter lists and misusing government machinery, with the involvement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and even the Election Commission.

Rahul Gandhi claims that this practice was not limited to the general elections but also extended to Maharashtra, where he alleges the BJP altered voter rolls after the Lok Sabha polls to secure victory in the subsequent assembly elections. He argues that such “vote theft” is part of the so-called “Gujarat model,” and has vowed to expose the BJP’s methods within the next six months.
