Amaravati/New Delhi: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates arrived in Andhra Pradesh ahead of the start of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which officially begins in New Delhi on February 16.

Gates, who will attend the global AI summit, was received at Gannavaram Airport by Andhra Pradesh minister and TDP leader Nara Lokesh, along with senior state ministers. The visit included discussions on expanding partnerships between Andhra Pradesh and the Gates Foundation in areas such as health, agriculture, education and technology-driven governance.

Sharing details of the visit, Nara Lokesh said the state government is looking forward to working closely with the Gates Foundation to develop scalable solutions for public welfare.

Officials said meetings at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat focused on strengthening cooperation in innovation and technology-based development.

India AI Impact Summit 2026 begins in Delhi

The AI Impact Summit 2026 is being held in India from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, bringing together global leaders, technology experts and policymakers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event, which will feature discussions on artificial intelligence, innovation, and responsible AI development.

According to organisers, the summit marks the first large-scale international AI conference hosted in the Global South and highlights India’s ambition to shape an inclusive and impactful AI future.

PM Modi welcomes global delegates

Ahead of the summit, Prime Minister Modi welcomed international delegates and highlighted India’s rapid progress in science and technology. He said the event reflects the growing role of Indian youth and innovation in shaping global technological development.

The summit is expected to host world leaders, industry executives, and experts from across the global tech ecosystem.
