Bihar elections 2025: 3.7 crore voters to decide fate of 12 Nitish cabinet ministers in phase 2 today

Patna: Preparations are ongoing for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections, where 3.7 crore voters will choose among 1,302 candidates in 122 constituencies today. This phase includes contests involving 12 ministers from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's cabinet, including leaders from JD(U) and BJP.
Key constituencies in this phase include Sasaram, Imamganj, Mohania, Bihpur, Gopalpur, Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, and Nathnagar. Several prominent candidates from various parties are in the fray, such as Snehlata Kushwaha (RLM/NDA) in Sasaram, Jitan Ram Manjhi (HAM(S)) in Imamganj, and Sangita Kumari (BJP) in Mohania.
The election sees competition between NDA (BJP, JD(U), HAM(S), LJP (RV)), Mahagathbandhan (Congress, RJD, left parties, VIP), and the Jan Suraaj party. The first phase recorded a historic 65.08% voter turnout, and this phase will be held at 45,399 polling centres.
Alongside Bihar, by-elections for eight assembly constituencies across India will be conducted today in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram, and Odisha.
The second phase's results will determine the political balance in Bihar, especially with many ministers contesting seats crucial to the state’s governance. NDA seeks a second-term mandate while the Mahagathbandhan aims to regain power, with Jan Suraaj hopeful of making major gains.
