Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram special trains extended till July 2026; Check dates, timings

Passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram will get additional rail connectivity through July, with South Western Railway announcing the extension of several special train services on the busy Kerala–Karnataka corridor.

The move comes as a relief for travellers facing high demand on the Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram route, particularly during weekends and the peak vacation season. The extended services will operate with the same timings, stoppages and coach composition as before.

Train No. 06523 SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Special, which departs Bengaluru at 7.25 pm on Mondays and reaches Thiruvananthapuram the following day at 1.15 pm, will now run on June 29 and July 13, 20 and 27.

Its return service, Train No. 06524 Thiruvananthapuram North–SMVT Bengaluru Special, departing at 3.15 pm on Tuesdays and arriving in Bengaluru at 8.30 am the next day, has been extended for June 30 and July 14, 21 and 28.

Similarly, Train No. 06547 SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Special operating on Wednesdays has been extended for July 1, 15, 22 and 29, while the corresponding return service, Train No. 06548, will run on July 2, 16, 23 and 30.

Railways have also continued the weekend special services on the route. Train No. 06555 SMVT Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram North Special, leaving Bengaluru at 10 pm on Fridays and reaching Thiruvananthapuram at 2 pm the next day, will operate on July 10, 17 and 24.

In the opposite direction, Train No. 06556 Thiruvananthapuram North–SMVT Bengaluru Special, departing at 2.15 pm on Sundays and reaching Bengaluru at 8.15 am the following day, has been extended for July 12, 19 and 26.

South Western Railway said advance reservation for the extended special services will open shortly through the railway booking system. Passengers planning travel between Bengaluru and Kerala are advised to check availability and secure tickets early, as demand on the route typically remains high during weekends and holiday periods.
