Delhi Police deny permission for Arvind Kejriwal’s E20 protest march to PM Modi's residence

New Delhi: A planned march by Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 4 to present petitions opposing E20 fuel will not be permitted, police sources stated on Monday.

A senior police official confirmed that no authorisation had been issued for the demonstration, adding that security measures were being implemented to block any unsanctioned procession.

On Saturday, Kejriwal announced during a 'National Town Hall Against E20' event in the capital that he intended to march towards the prime minister's home at noon on August 4 alongside 100 volunteers to hand over a petition containing 200,000 signatures gathered through an online initiative against ethanol-blended fuel.

Earlier on Monday, Kejriwal claimed that the Union government was promoting E20 fuel after capitulating to US President Donald Trump regarding the procurement of ethanol from the United States.

The former Delhi chief minister noted that he had dispatched a letter to the prime minister in the preceding month requesting a formal meeting to address reservations over E20 fuel, but received no reply.
