Punjab women to receive ₹3,000-₹4,500 on July 1 as Kejriwal announces financial assistance payout

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that financial assistance for women in Punjab would be credited to their bank accounts on July 1
In a post on X, Kejriwal said the amount would be released as a single instalment covering three months. According to him, women from the general category will receive ₹3,000, while women belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) communities will receive ₹4,500.
"Heartiest congratulations to all the mothers, sisters and daughters of Punjab. On July 1, three months' money will be credited to their accounts all at once. Every woman from the general category will receive 3,000, and every woman from the SC category will receive 4,500," he wrote.
He further added that if a family contains more than one woman, each woman would receive the amount, hailing the initiative as the “world’s largest women’s empowerment program”.
On March 8, Kejriwal had announced a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 for every women and ₹1,500 for women belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) communities. He asserted that the AAP government in Punjab had remained committed to delivering on its promises and would continue to do so in the future.
In another post on X, Kejriwal had said the Punjab government was delivering on what he described as its "biggest guarantee" announced on International Women's Day. He added that the scheme was intended to promote the dignity, welfare and empowerment of women across the state.
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presented the fifth Budget of the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the Assembly on March 8, coinciding with International Women's Day. During his Budget speech, he said the AAP government had worked for the welfare of all sections of society over the past four years.
