Baba Siddique murder: Anmol Bishnoi to be brought to India from US

New Delhi: Anmol Bishnoi, accused by the Mumbai Police of orchestrating the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in October 2024, is set to be brought back to India after US authorities completed the deportation process, officials said on Tuesday.
A senior officer told The Indian Express that the formalities for his removal from the United States had been finalised and that he was expected to land in Delhi soon. The officer added that Anmol faces multiple cases across several states, and the Centre will determine which agency will take custody first.
A second officer stated that Anmol was likely to arrive in India within a few hours. Baba Siddique’s son, Zeeshan Siddique, confirmed receiving an email from US officials informing him that “Anmol Bishnoi has been removed from the US by the federal government”. He said his email had been registered with US authorities as a member of the victim’s family, and he was notified whenever significant updates occurred. Zeeshan said he did not know Anmol’s immediate destination following his removal.
Anmol, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, had been declared a wanted accused in the murder of Baba Siddique, who was shot dead outside his Bandra office on 12 October 2024. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch, which arrested 26 individuals in connection with the killing, named Anmol in its chargesheet as the person who planned the attack. Investigators said audio clips recovered from the mobile phones of arrested suspects matched Anmol’s voice, suggesting he issued instructions and encouraged the men involved.
The 26-year-old is also a wanted accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case and in the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence last year. He was detained by US authorities in November 2024, after which efforts began to bring him back to India. Police officers said that with Lawrence Bishnoi behind bars, Anmol allegedly took charge of coordinating major gang operations from abroad.
The National Investigation Agency had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for information leading to Anmol last year. The agency said he was linked to at least 18 criminal cases until November 2024, including allegations that he provided weapons and logistical support to those involved in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022.
