‘Let’s build a developed, self-reliant India’: Amit Shah’s Independence Day message
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday extended Independence Day greetings to citizens and paid tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during India’s struggle for independence.
In a post on X, Shah called on people to renew their commitment to building a developed, prosperous and self-reliant India.
“Heartfelt Independence Day greetings to all fellow citizens of the country,” Shah said.
Remembering those who fought for India’s freedom, Shah said the nation must honour the sacrifices of the “brave warriors” who dedicated their lives to the country.
He urged citizens to use the occasion to resolve to accelerate the development of a prosperous and self-reliant India.

PM Modi greets the nation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended Independence Day greetings and paid tribute to the freedom fighters.
In his message, Modi said the dreams of the freedom fighters continue to inspire the country as it works towards building a Viksit Bharat.
He said India, powered by its 140 crore citizens, is making progress across different sectors and expressed hope that the country’s development journey would move ahead at a faster pace.

India became independent from British colonial rule on August 15, 1947.
Prime Minister Modi will lead the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi on Saturday.
This year’s celebrations will highlight ‘Yuva Shakti’ and India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The event will also mark 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
For the first time, ‘Vande Mataram’ will be rendered as part of the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort.
2,500 cadets to join celebrations
Around 2,500 Army, Navy and Air Force cadets, along with ‘My Bharat’ volunteers, will be participating in the celebrations.
They will be seated along Gyanpath and form the words ‘Vande Mataram’. Displays carrying the theme ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ will also be installed at the venue.
Around 5,000 special guests from different sections of society have been invited to the celebrations.
They include women entrepreneurs, sanitation workers, street vendors, youth innovators, scientists, startup founders, artisans, farmers, students and beneficiaries of various government schemes.
More than 1,500 people from different states and Union Territories, dressed in traditional attire, will also attend the ceremony.
