Airfares increase by 41 pc; tickets from Delhi to Kerala will cost you a bomb

New Delhi: According to the ACA report, India has registered the highest rise in airfares among the Asia-Pacific countries. The ticket prices have skyrocketed, registering an increase by at least 41 percent, from the time of the onset of pandemic.

It should be noted that the regulations in ticket prices put in place during the pandemic, were lifted by the government in September last year. The ticket prices have risen considerably ever since then. The suspension of services of GoFirst airlines and the crisis in Spicejet airlines further escalated the prices.

According to the figures, from 2019 to 2022, airfares have increased by a staggering 41 percent. During the same period, UAE has registered a rise by 34 percent, closely followed by Singapore and Australia, with 30 and 24 percent.

Air tickets from Delhi to Kerala will cost you a bomb. The same is the case with other busy air routes, including flights between Delhi-Mumbai. 

Currently there are no direct air services from Delhi to Kannur. As a result, passengers to Kerala are forced to shell out somewhere around Rs 10,000- Rs 20,000, to travel on this route via connection flights.

The ever increasing prices of fuel is cited as the major reason behind the ordeal.
