New Delhi: An Air India Express flight to Varanasi received a security threat during its journey, leading to a full-scale emergency response in line with aviation safety protocols.

According to the airline, the Government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was immediately informed after the threat was detected. “All necessary security procedures were promptly initiated,” an Air India Express spokesperson confirmed.

The aircraft landed safely at its destination, and all passengers were disembarked without incident. Authorities then began mandatory security checks on the aircraft and surrounding areas.

The spokesperson added that the flight will only resume operations after all required inspections are complete and clearance is granted by the relevant authorities.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and airport security teams have been coordinating with the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee to assess the situation. Preliminary checks are underway to determine the credibility and source of the threat.

Standard operating procedures in such cases include isolating the aircraft, screening passengers and baggage, and conducting a detailed examination by bomb disposal squads.

No injuries or disruptions have been reported apart from the precautionary measures taken. Passengers were safely moved to the terminal while officials conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and cargo hold.

Security officials said that the investigation will also include a review of communications and flight data to establish how the threat was received.

Authorities are expected to issue an official report after the security checks are completed and the aircraft is cleared for further operations.
