Air India crew praised for quick, professional response to mid-air medical emergency

Bengaluru: Amid ongoing scrutiny following the Ahmedabad crash and a series of technical issues over the past two months, Air India’s crew have been commended for their swift and effective action in saving a passenger’s life during a recent flight.
The incident occurred on Air India flight AI 2807, travelling from New Delhi to Bengaluru, when a sudden medical emergency arose mid-air. Passengers lauded both the cabin crew and pilot for their calm and professional handling of the situation.
The event took place on Saturday night, when a female passenger began experiencing a sudden nosebleed. Flight attendants immediately sprang into action, providing first aid. Despite the urgency, the crew managed the situation with remarkable professionalism, wearing surgical gloves and adhering strictly to emergency protocols, according to a passenger seated nearby.
The details emerged after fellow passenger Mario D’Penha posted on X, praising the crew’s timely and competent response.
Recognising the severity of the situation, the pilot opted to land the aircraft 16 minutes ahead of schedule at Bengaluru. Airport authorities were duly informed, enabling a medical team, including a doctor, to be on standby upon arrival.
Once on the ground, the doctor quickly boarded the plane to attend to the passenger, who received further medical treatment. Despite the unscheduled landing, all passengers remained seated and cooperated fully throughout the emergency.
