Accident again at Vijay’s TVK event: Student, two women among six injured | VIDEO

Chennai/Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu): At least six people were injured, one of them seriously, after an accident during an event led by actor-politician Vijay in Thanjavur on Wednesday. The mishap reportedly occurred as supporters attempted to follow his vehicle, with disturbing visuals from the scene circulating on social media.
Among the injured is P Vignesh, a third-year degree student, who fell from his motorcycle while chasing the convoy. He has been admitted to a private hospital. Another youth sustained a fractured leg. Two women were also among those hurt. All the injured were shifted to private hospitals for treatment.
The incident adds to concerns over crowd management at large political gatherings. A previous rally in Karur had resulted in 41 deaths, and last month a person died after collapsing during a TVK event in Salem, drawing criticism against Vijay’s party.
‘Assembly poll is an oceanic emotion’
Meanwhile, addressing a meeting of party functionaries in Thanjavur, Vijay described the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election as deeply personal.
“It may seem an ordinary election for others, but for me and the people loving me, it is an emotion, an oceanic emotion,” he said, appealing to voters to give his party an opportunity in the likely April polls.
He urged supporters to ensure that the party’s election symbol, the “whistle”, resonates “in every house and every polling booth” across the State. In a cricket analogy, he remarked, “Delhi team cannot defeat Tamil Nadu team even in cricket,” referencing the popular ‘whistle podu’ slogan associated with the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Vijay also renewed his attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, once again branding it “theeya sakthi” (evil force), and claimed that even children had begun using the term.
