Gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad's son Abaan Ahmad dies in road accident en route to Jhansi jail

Abaan Ahmad, son of slain gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad, died in a road accident on Thursday while travelling to Jhansi to meet his elder brother, Ali Ahmad, who is currently lodged in Jhansi jail.

According to initial reports, Abaan was travelling in a car that reportedly lost control at high speed before crashing into a road divider.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving him with fatal injuries. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident.

Upon receiving information about the crash, officials from the Poonch police station and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Moth immediately reached the spot. Police personnel swiftly launched relief and rescue operations, and all those injured in the accident were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Moth for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were taken into custody, while legal formalities, including the preparation of the panchayatnama, are being carried out in accordance with established procedures.

Officials also confirmed that the law and order situation at the accident site remains completely normal.

Abaan's death marks yet another tragedy for the family of Atiq Ahmad, one of Uttar Pradesh's most notorious gangster-politicians.

A former MP from Prayagraj, Atiq faced dozens of criminal cases, including allegations of murder, kidnapping, extortion and land grabbing, while continuing to wield significant political influence for decades.

On April 15, 2023, Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists while they were being escorted by police for a medical examination in Prayagraj.

The brazen attack, captured live on television cameras, shocked the nation. Just two days earlier, Atiq's son Asad Ahmad had been killed in a police encounter near Jhansi in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case.

Ali Ahmad, Atiq's elder son, remains lodged in Jhansi jail in connection with multiple criminal cases. According to reports, Abaan was travelling to meet him when the fatal accident occurred.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are expected to release further details after completing the probe.
