43 voter IDs found near Union Minister’s residence in Madhya Pradesh, many in burnt condition

Madhya Pradesh: Tikamgarh witnessed a major controversy after 43 voter identity cards were found near the official residence of Union Minister Dr Virendra Kumar on Civil Line Road, sparking suspicion of foul play. Several of the cards were found charred, indicating a possible attempt to destroy them.

According to Dainik Bhaskar, local authorities rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Tehsildar Satyendra Singh Gurjar, along with revenue officials, collected the documents and confirmed that many of them were either damaged or burnt. The seized cards have been placed under the administration’s custody, and officials said they are probing possible misuse.

Collector orders detailed investigation

The matter was initially flagged by MP representative Vivek Chaturvedi, who alerted the Tehsildar and demanded a full inquiry. He also urged authorities to scrutinise whether the voter IDs had been misused in government health schemes. Following the complaint, Collector Vivek Shrotriya ordered a comprehensive probe into how the cards surfaced near the minister’s bungalow.

Suspicion over misuse 

Tehsildar Gurjar said that the finding of the cards in such a condition raises serious concerns over their potential fraudulent use. Investigators are now working to trace the origins of the voter IDs, verify the identities linked to them and determine whether they were employed in any illegal activity.
