Bengaluru: A 38-year-old woman was brutally assaulted by a group of men outside a mosque in Davanagere, Karnataka, following a domestic dispute involving her husband. The incident, which occurred on April 9, was caught on camera and has since gone viral, triggering widespread outrage.

The victim, Shabina Banu, works as a house help. According to officials, difference between the victim and her husband began on April 7 when her relative Nasreen and an acquaintance named Fayaz visited her at home. The three went out briefly before returning to Shabina's house.

Later that day, when Shabina’s husband, Jameel Ahmed, returned and saw the two guests at home, he became upset and filed a complaint at the Jama Masjid in Tavarekere, Bengaluru, against his wife, Nasreen, and Fayaz.

Two days later, all three were summoned to the mosque in Davanagere. When they arrived, a mob of six men attacked Shabina with sticks and metal pipes, leaving her seriously injured.

The attackers have been identified as: Mohammad Niyaz (32), a driver, Mohammad Gauspeer (45), a scrap dealer, Chand Basha (35), a sugarcane juice vendor, Dastagir (24), a bike mechanic, Rasool T R (42), fisherman, Inayat Ullah (51).

All six were arrested after the video of the assault spread online. Police have filed a case against them under various charges, including conspiracy, assault, and attempted murder.

Officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway and that the victim is receiving medical treatment.
