Kerala Police foil 'Ranganna Style' birthday celebration for accused in criminal case

Thrissur: The police disrupted plans for a 'Rangannan style' birthday celebration for an accused in The Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) and other criminal cases. The police intervened just as the defendant intended to make a grand entrance to celebrate his birthday at Thekkinkadu ground.
The operation was executed by the Thrissur City Police shadow team and East Police. A police unit in four jeeps surrounded the group members ('Kutti fans') who were waiting with the birthday cake. This cinematic-style intervention took place on Sunday.
A total of 32 people had gathered on the ground, including 17 minors. The plan was for the leader to make a dramatic entrance during the celebration, record a video, and share it on social media.
The police received information about the planned celebration following a similar incident involving another gang leader in Kuttur. Acting on this tip-off, the police surrounded the group and apprehended them. Upon realising that his associates were detained, the accused cancelled the event and fled.
The 17 minors were released after their parents were summoned and informed of their activities. Among them were students in the 12th grade. A case was registered against the remaining 15 individuals, and they were subsequently released. It is understood that some of them have previous criminal records.
