Kochi: Pulsar Suni, who recently secured bail in the actress assault case, may remain in jail because of ongoing bail proceedings in two additional cases. Despite being granted bail by the Supreme Court after serving seven and a half years, his release is postponed due to other legal complications.

Pending cases delay release

Currently, there are pending bail proceedings related to a robbery case in Kottayam and another case concerning phone calls made from Kakkanad District Jail while he was on remand for the actress assault case. The Supreme Court has directed Pulsar Suni to appear in the trial court within a week, where the conditions for his bail will be determined.

Meanwhile, Suni’s lawyer plans to file a petition in a special court in Kochi following the bail grant in the actress assault case. The lawyer will request the court to set bail conditions for his possible release.

Actress assault case

The actress, known for her work in Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu films, was abducted and allegedly sexually assaulted in her car for two hours by individuals who forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017. The assailants later escaped in a busy area. The entire incident was filmed to blackmail the actress.

The police have arrested several individuals in connection with the case. Actor Dileep was also arrested but was later released on bail.
