Dispute over Instagram post: Parents assault students at school in Kerala

Balussery, Kerala: In a shocking incident, the parents of a ninth-grade student allegedly assaulted three Xth standard students at Kinalur Poovambayi Higher Secondary School in Balussery a few days back.

The incident happened after a verbal altercation between the students escalated into a physical confrontation. Despite teachers intervening on time, the parents of the ninth-grade students followed and reportedly assaulted the tenth-graders.

The injured students — Muhammad Mishal, Fadal, and Amjad Roshan — were hospitalised. The tensions had previously been reported between students of different grades, with the dispute reportedly triggered by a photo posted on Instagram. It was alleged that a flag featured in the Instagram post was later found to be torn, leading to a confrontation between students.

After the incident, the parents of ninth-grade students, accompanied by local villagers, arrived at the school and allegedly attacked the tenth-grade students. The school principal, Muraleedharan, and PTA President, Krishnakumar, stated that parents should not interfere in disputes between students, as it only escalates the conflict.
