Kodungallur: Livia Jose (23), the relative arrested for trapping Sheela Sunny, the owner of a beauty parlour in Chalakudy, in a false drug case, has reportedly confessed to the crime. Livia said that she framed Sheela in the false drug case as an act of revenge because Sheela Sunny, and her husband have slandered Livia several times.

Livia is the sister of Sheela Sunny's daughter-in-law. The sister-in-law's problems in her in-laws' house and property disputes increased the enmity. Meanwhile, during the initial interrogation, she said that her sister had nothing to do with the incident.

"Sheela had told many people that I was making money in illegal and bad ways in Bengaluru. Once, I got an audio message sent to her son Sangeeth, saying this. With the intention of trapping Sheela, I asked for the help of Thripunithura Eroor native Narayana Das, with whom we had hidden the drug stamps in her vehicle and bag and informed the excise officials. I bought these stamps believing it was the drug. Only later, I realised that the African who gave them was a fraud," Livia testified.

Livia, who was in Dubai, was arrested at the Mumbai International Airport. Since a lookout notice was issued, the immigration officials stopped her at the airport and informed the Kerala police.

Livia was then taken to Kodungallur at 3:30 am on Sunday and was questioned for about four hours under the monitoring of DySP V K Raju. She was produced before the Kodungallur First Class Judicial Magistrate at 5:30 in the evening and remanded.

Sheela Sunny was arrested in a fake drug case on February 27, 2023. She was released after 72 days in jail. She was proven innocent after the chemical test found that the stamp was fake. The High Court ordered a special investigation into Sheela's petition to bring out the conspiracy behind the incident. A police team led by DySP V K Raju, under the supervision of District Police Chief (Rural) B Krishnakumar, took over the investigation of the case in early March.

The investigation team includes Mathilakam Inspector M K Shaji, Koratty Inspector Amrit Rangan, Valappad SI Abin, Azhikode coastal SI Saji Varghese, Chalakudy ASI Jini, Kodungallur control room SPO Mithun R Krishna, SI Lalsan, Kodungallur SI Jaleel, Rural Special Branch SI officers Pradeep and Satheesan, CPO Nishant, ASI Binu and SCPO Vinod Kumar.
