Vlogger Shimjitha held by Kozhikode police in Deepak suicide case | Secretive arrest causes stir

Kozhikode: Kozhikode police arrested vlogger Shimjitha Mustafa in connection with the suicide of 41-year-old U. Deepak from Govindapuram. The arrest was carried out discreetly from a relative’s house in Vadakara by officers in plainclothes using a private vehicle, with no prior public notice.
Shimjitha was first taken to Koyilandy Taluk Hospital for a medical examination. Later, she was directly produced before the Kunnamangalam court and remanded for 14 days, after which she was transferred to Manjeri jail. Her lawyers have announced plans to file a bail application.
Relatives of Deepak and local residents expressed concern over the secretive manner of her arrest, questioning the use of a private vehicle and lack of transparency.
