Mukkam sexual assault case: Victim's family releases more evidence against hotel owner Devadas

Kozhikode: The family of the young woman who was sexually assaulted by her employer and a hotel owner Devadas (64), the prime accused in the case, has released additional evidence against him. The family shared digital proof, including screenshots of WhatsApp chats, of the initial inappropriate behaviour the young employee experienced from the accused.
According to the family, Devadas first behaved inappropriately with the woman via WhatsApp. Following this, she decided to resign from her job at the hotel. However, Devadas pleaded with her to continue working, promising that such behaviour would not be repeated. The screenshots released by the family detail these exchanges.
The accused later went to the woman’s residence and attempted to assault her. While resisting the assault, the young woman jumped from the first floor of her residence and is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident took place last Saturday around 11 pm, when Devadas, along with his accomplices Riyas from Kakkoor in Kozhikode and Suresh from Choolur at Mavoor, arrived at the woman's residence. Devadas then attempted to assault her. Footage of the assault attempt was also released the following day.
Devadas was arrested by the police while travelling on a KSRTC bus from Kozhikode to Ernakulam near Kundamkulam. To mislead the investigation team, he had parked his car at Kozhikode Railway Station and boarded the bus. He was produced before the Thamarassery Magistrate Court and remanded for two weeks. Later, the co-accused, Riyas and Suresh, surrendered before the Thamarassery Court on Thursday.
