Bus driver arrested for driving under the influence of ganja in Kozhikode

Perumanna, Kozhikode: A private bus driver was arrested for operating a bus under the influence of ganja in Kozhikode. The accused, Faijas (30), was driving the bus, 'Road King', on the Kozhikode-Pantheerankavu route when the incident occurred around 12 pm on Thursday.

According to reports, the police received a tip-off that Faijaas was driving after consuming ganja. Acting on this information, the Pantheerankavu Police conducted an inspection and noticed a strong smell of ganja from the driver. Upon further checking, remnants of ganja were also found in his pocket. 

Following this, the police took both the driver and the bus into custody and took them to the Pantheerankavu Police Station for further proceedings.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Subash Chandran said a report would be submitted to the authorities recommending the suspension of the accused’s driving licence.
