Kottayam woman’s murder: Husband found with Iranian woman in Bengaluru; lawyer reveals years of abuse

Thodupuzha, Kerala: More details have emerged in the murder of Kottayam native Jessie, who was allegedly strangled to death by her husband, Sam K George, following domestic disputes.

Police arrested Sam in Bengaluru, where he was reportedly living with an Iranian woman at the time of his arrest.

According to reports, the Iranian woman had frequently visited the couple’s house in Kanakkary. Police officials said Sam, 59, had close relationships with several foreign women. After returning from abroad, he had enrolled in a travel and tourism degree course at MG University, allegedly to build international contacts.

Frequent quarrels between the couple reportedly arose over Sam’s relationships with foreign women. Just a week before the murder, Sam had brought another woman to their home, leading to yet another heated argument.

Police believe Jessie was strangled to death and her body was transported in a car trunk to a cliff area near Cheppukulam, about 60 km away, where it was dumped. The murder came to light after the couple’s children, all living abroad, failed to reach their mother by phone and filed a complaint.

Jessie and Sam had married in Bengaluru, though not legally. Locals alleged that Sam had been married before and had a child with his first wife. Jaisy raised all three children as her own, despite not being the biological mother of the first child.

The couple had lived abroad, where Sam worked in the IT sector and Jaisy ran a daycare. They later returned to Kerala, where Jessie reportedly bought the house in Sam’s name. Disputes over property ownership and a pending divorce case had deepened tensions between them.

Officials said Sam had been planning the murder for over a year. While living on separate floors of the same house, he frequently brought women home, claiming to be single. Several of these women left after learning from Jessie that he was married.

Last year, a Vietnamese woman who had been deceived by Sam apologised to Jessie before leaving and later warned her through a message that Sam had threatened to kill her and her son, as revealed by her lawyer, Adv. Sasikumar.

Jessie had endured years of abuse since their marriage. In 2008, while they lived in Saudi Arabia, she was brutally attacked after confronting Sam about another affair. He allegedly hit her repeatedly with a door lock, leaving her unconscious and on a ventilator for two months. Sam told police at the time that she had slipped in the bathroom.

Despite repeated abuse, Jessie never filed a formal complaint, reportedly choosing to protect her children. Her lawyer said she had recently sought a court order for divorce and to reclaim the house.

Police say the Iranian woman who was with Sam at the time of arrest will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
