Husband arrested over Kerala woman's suicide by jumping before train with two children

Kottayam: The police have arrested the husband of the woman who, along with her two daughters, died by suicide by jumping in front of a train at Ettumanoor. Noby, a native of Thodupuzha, was arrested by Ettumanoor Police on charges of abetment of suicide on Wednesday. The police summoned Noby to the station on Wednesday afternoon, took him into custody, and interrogated him for several hours before officially recording his arrest around 5 pm.
Noby's wife Shiny (42) and daughters Aleena (11) and Evan (10) died by jumping in front of a train at Parolickal near Ettumanoor last Friday. According to the loco pilot, the mother and daughters did not move from the tracks despite repeated honking. The children were seen clinging to their mother when the train ran over them. The loco pilot immediately informed Ettumanoor station, and the police recovered the mutilated bodies from the tracks.
Police investigations revealed that family disputes were the reason behind the mass suicide. Noby, a Merchant Navy employee, had been living away from the family for the past nine months due to family issues. Shiny and her two daughters were staying at her parental home at Parolickal. Their elder son Edwin (14) is studying at a sports school in Ernakulam. Shiny, a BSc Nursing graduate, was seeking a job.
There were allegations that Noby and his family had tried to prevent Shiny from getting a job. A priest, who is Noby's brother and resides abroad, also faced similar accusations. Earlier, Shiny had lodged a domestic violence complaint against Noby.
