Kochi, Kerala: A complaint has been filed alleging that two girls were attacked by a group of people while walking along a road in Kaloor after they objected to inappropriate comments made against them. It is further alleged that they were knocked to the ground, kicked, and their heads were grabbed and struck against the ground.

One of the injured girls has been admitted to Ernakulam General Hospital.

The incident is said to have taken place around 4 am on Tuesday (June 2), when two girl students were returning home after finishing part-time work.

They allegedly saw a group of eight people standing together, including six men and two women. As they walked past, the group is said to have made sexually suggestive comments. The girls objected to inappropriate comments made against them and moved away quickly. They were allegedly abused again, and one woman in the group called them back. The girls then tried to record what was happening on a mobile phone. Following this, the phone was reportedly snatched, thrown to the ground, and damaged.

It is further alleged that one of the girls was pinned down, kicked, and her head was forced against the ground during the attack.

Police investigation underway

One of the girls suffered serious injuries in the incident. Based on the complaint, Ernakulam North police have started an investigation and are recording statements from the victims.

Preliminary findings suggest the accused may be residents of the same area where the incident took place. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being checked.
