Pune: The investigation into the death of 26-year-old real estate executive Ketan Agarwal has taken a dramatic turn after his family filed a First Information Report (FIR) accusing his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, of orchestrating his murder.

Police have alleged that Ketan was pushed off a cliff at Pune's Lohagad Fort on 18 June, turning what was initially believed to be an accidental fall into a suspected case of premeditated murder.

The FIR, lodged by Ketan's father, Vishal Devichand Agarwal, outlines a series of allegations that the family believes point to a planned conspiracy.

Allegation 1: Siya's 'Erratic Behaviour' Before the Trip

According to the FIR, Ketan had recently confided in his family that Siya had begun displaying increasingly erratic behaviour. His father alleged that she frequently picked arguments over minor issues and threw tantrums in the weeks leading up to his death.

The complaint also claims that Siya had repeatedly insisted on visiting Lohagad Fort. An earlier plan to visit the site on 4 June was reportedly cancelled after Ketan declined to take her, allegedly leaving her "highly agitated".

Allegation 2: How the Lohagad Trip Was Arranged

The FIR states that Siya continued pressing Ketan to take her to Lohagad Fort despite resistance from his family.

On the night of 17 June, she allegedly called Ketan via WhatsApp and used her upcoming birthday to persuade his family to allow the outing. After speaking directly with Ketan's mother, Ketan collected Siya from the Kiwale bridge on the Pune-Mumbai highway before the pair travelled to the fort.

The following morning, at around 10:45 am, Siya informed Ketan's mother that he had accidentally fallen into a gorge. Ketan was later declared dead.

Allegation 3: Family Questions Accident Theory

Four days after the incident, Ketan's father and relatives visited the location where he died.

According to the FIR, the family concluded that it was highly unlikely someone could accidentally slip from the spot where Ketan allegedly fell. This strengthened their suspicion that his death was not accidental.

Allegation 4: Suspected Relationship With Chetan Chaudhary

The FIR further alleges that Siya was frequently occupied with her mobile phone and often mentioned a "friend", identified as Chetan Chaudhary.

These interactions reportedly led Ketan's family to suspect that Siya and Chetan were involved in a romantic relationship.

Allegation 5: 'Obstacle to Their Relationship'

The complaint alleges that Siya and Chetan conspired to kill Ketan because he had become an obstacle to their relationship.

Ketan's father also stated that the couple had planned a pre-wedding photoshoot in Bali, but the trip was cancelled after Siya failed to obtain her passport in time.

The families were also preparing for an extravagant wedding celebration at a luxury resort in Udaipur, with reports estimating the overall cost at between ₹5 crore and ₹17 crore.

Family Demands Justice

Following the FIR, Ketan's family, along with residents of their housing society in Pimpri-Chinchwad, organised a candlelight march demanding justice and the strictest punishment for the accused.

In an emotional appeal, Vishal Agarwal said he had never imagined that arranging his son's marriage would end in tragedy.

"My 26-year-old son was killed for no apparent reason," he said. "I had set out to bring home a daughter-in-law, but instead I lost my child."

Ketan's mother, Rakhi Agarwal, also demanded the harshest possible punishment for Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary.

The allegations contained in the FIR remain claims made by the complainant. The investigation is ongoing, and the accused are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in a court of law.
