TTE, woman trade assault allegations after altercation on Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Express

Shoranur, Kerala: A ticket examiner and a woman passenger have filed cross complaints following an altercation aboard the Mangaluru Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central Express on Monday evening.

According to the complaint filed by S Sujith (38), a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) attached to the Palakkad Division's Shoranur team, the incident occurred near Feroke at around 7 pm.

Police said the woman, Shruthi (30), a native of Pattithara, had a general ticket from Feroke to Kuttippuram but boarded a reserved coach. When the TTE asked her to move to the general compartment, an argument broke out, following which she allegedly assaulted him.

In his complaint, Sujith alleged that the woman obstructed him from discharging his official duties, assaulted him, causing injuries to his face and neck, and behaved abusively.

However, Shruthi has also lodged a complaint with the Railway Police, alleging that the TTE abused and assaulted her. She told police that after asking for her ticket, the TTE verbally abused her and attempted to attack her, prompting her to push him away in self-defence by holding his face.

The Shoranur Railway Police have registered cases based on both complaints and launched an investigation.

Both the TTE and the woman sought medical treatment following the incident. Police said Sujith sustained injuries to his face and neck.
