Moovattupuzha: Ananthu Krishnan, an accused in the half-price scooter scam, has admitted to receiving Rs 5,000 as commission per scooter from companies, amassing a total of approximately Rs 7.5 crore. He also reportedly revealed during a Crime Branch interrogation that around Rs 2 crore was given to political leaders.

Ananthu allegedly maintained a separate bank account solely for receiving these commission payments. According to reports, he confessed to transferring Rs 1.71 crore to K N Anandakumar’s Saigramam Trust and Rs 46 lakh to Congress leader Laly Vincent from these funds.

Police had previously found out that Ananthu had handed over Rs 46 lakh to Laly Vincent in connection with the scam.

A detailed police investigation into the large-scale fraud exposed the huge sum received by the Congress leader. However, Laly Vincent has denied any involvement in the scam, claiming that the amount received from Ananthu Krishnan was meant for legal expenses.

With Ananthu Krishnan’s custody period ending on Wednesday, he will be presented before the court.
