Kerala MVD official facing threats from goons, says doesn't want to be another Naveen Babu

Mannuthy (Thrissur): Barely days after the death of Kannur Additional District Magistrate Naveen Babu, a government official in Kerala has come forward, alleging that he is working under huge pressure and facing threats.
The revelation came in a police complaint filed by Sreekanth, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector at the Irinjalakuda Sub RT Office in Thrissur, against goons who issued death threats against him for not issuing a fitness certificate for a private bus.
“There is a lot of pressure, and I am not even allowed to work. Threats are issued by a group during the fitness test. I am also receiving phone calls from unknown numbers. Now, threats are being made right in front of my house. I don’t want to become another Naveen Babu,” says KT Sreekanth in his complaint.
The complaint was filed by Sreekanth against a three-member group who allegedly threatened him outside his home. Following this, the Mannuthy police registered a case and started an investigation.
On Friday at around 9 pm, the group arrived at Sreekanth's house and threatened the family for about an hour. At the time, Sreekanth was at home with his pregnant wife, mother, sister, and two little children. The family members were left in shock by the incident.
According to Sreekanth, the gang did not enter the house because the gate was locked. Afterwards, they went to his uncle's house next door, where they reportedly hurled obscenities, as captured by CCTV footage. The assailants then left and approached the owner of a nearby business, issuing a warning.
Following this, the police have registered a case against Jensen from Mannuthy, Biju from Puthoor and another person. Sreekanth claimed that the group threatened him because of a dispute over not granting a fitness certificate to a private bus that was not properly maintained.
Biju, one of the accused in the case, had threatened Sreekanth in the past. Jensen, who introduced himself as the owner of the bus after being denied fitness certificate last week, tried to influence the officer in various ways, both in person and indirectly. Sreekanth said that he did not yield to this threat.
