Hyderabad IPS trainee accused in harassment case; claims 'relationship was consensual' in note

An IPS probationer at Hyderabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), who is facing allegations of harassment by a fellow trainee officer, has been hospitalised after allegedly consuming poison.

The incident comes just days after a criminal case was registered against him based on the woman's complaint.

According to officials, trainee officer Uday Krishna Reddy allegedly consumed a bottle of poison at a friend's residence in Hyderabad on Sunday evening. While authorities have not officially confirmed it as a suicide attempt, he remains under medical observation and is receiving treatment.

Earlier this month, a fellow IPS probationer accused Reddy of stalking, assault, criminal intimidation and secretly recording a private video without her consent. Based on her complaint, Hyderabad Police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.

The complainant also alleged that Reddy sent her sexually abusive messages, forcibly accessed her phone, physically assaulted her on several occasions, and later attempted to blackmail her and damage her reputation.

Following the incident, investigators reportedly recovered a two-page note in which Reddy denied all allegations and claimed the two had been in a consensual romantic relationship since June 2025.

In the note, Reddy alleged that the relationship continued both emotionally and physically even after the woman got married. He claimed she frequently visited his room and initiated intimate encounters.

Referring to an incident dated July 9, 2026, he wrote that the complainant came to his room because she 'felt intense sexual urge'.

He alleged that 'she only kissed me and hugged me without any consent,' according to a report by India Today.

Reddy further claimed he had recorded certain interactions as evidence and later shared one of the videos with the woman's husband.

He alleged that the complainant subsequently 'manipulated everything' and falsely accused him of assault.

Police have not commented on the claims made in the note and said the investigation is ongoing.
