Hubballi horror: 13-year-old girl allegedly gang-raped by three minors

In yet another case highlighting the rise of atrocities against minors in the country, a girl, 13 years old, has allegedly been gang-raped by three minor boys aged between 14 and 15 in Karnataka's Hubballi, police said on Saturday.

Police said when the survivor's parents were not present due to professional commitments, the two accused, who are locals, lured her into accompanying them to an abandoned area and sexually assaulted her.

Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said that the girl, who is approximately 12-13 years old, is being taken care of and provided with all the protection she needs. "All three boys have been taken into custody," he assured. 

Kumar said that two of the accused are high school students, while the third is believed to be a school dropout based on preliminary information.

He added that the survivor’s parents have alleged the boys threatened the girl by claiming they had recorded a video of the assault, and said the mobile phones of the accused will be seized as part of the investigation, which is currently underway.
