Gujarat: Woman's live-in partner rapes 2 daughters, impregnates one of them; accused held

Navsari (Gujarat): A 38-year-old live-in partner of a woman was arrested for allegedly raping her two minor daughters from an earlier marriage and impregnating one of them in Gujarat's Navsari district, police said on Wednesday.

The accused, who was in a live-in relationship for the past six years with the mother of the survivors, aged 13 and 14, in Chikhli taluka of the district, said deputy superintendent of police B V Gohil.

When one of her daughters developed a stomach ache, a medical examination by doctors revealed she was pregnant, he said.

This led to disclosure that the accused had raped both girls multiple times. The medical examination of the second girl was underway, police said.

A case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and he was arrested on Tuesday, they said.

The woman, divorced seven years ago, was living with the accused along with her four minor children - two sons and as many daughters. PTI
