Dramatic daylight abduction in Kasaragod; Andhra natives held by Kerala Police

Kasaragod: A five-member gang abducted a young man in broad daylight from a national highway in Kasaragod on Wednesday afternoon. The group, however, was intercepted near Sakleshpur in Karnataka with the assistance of Karnataka Police. The victim, Haneefa, a resident of Melparamb here, had been standing in front of Aryabhavan Hotel in Karanthakatte when he was abducted.
The suspects and the victim were brought to Kasaragod late at night after being handed over to local police. Preliminary investigations suggest that the abduction was financially motivated.
Daytime abduction in broad view
The gang arrived in a car around noon on Wednesday and carried out the abduction on the service road in front of Aryabhavan Hotel. Police say the gang had been monitoring the victim for over three days. The police suspect Sharif, a resident of Bekal, to be behind the abduction. Inspector P Nalinakshan stated that the full truth would only emerge after questioning the suspects.
Andhra natives behind the crime
Police confirmed that individuals from Andhra Pradesh orchestrated the abduction. Kasaragod Town Police registered a case and a team led by Town SI Sajimon George brought the suspects to Kasaragod and recorded their arrest.
A cinematic abduction
The incident, reminiscent of a movie, involved a black car and a lightning-fast daylight abduction, leaving witnesses stunned. The gang reportedly travelled about 90 kilometres before being caught by Karnataka Police near Sakleshpur.
Police coordination and arrest
On receiving information at 1 pm, Kasaragod Town Police rushed to the scene. CCTV footage was examined but did not provide significant leads, prompting coordination with neighbouring stations and Karnataka authorities. The police then tracked the black Scorpio through a checkpoint at Thalapadi and eventually intercepted it in Karnataka, successfully capturing the suspects.
