Caught on cam! Cop carries petrol pump staff on car bonnet for 1 km in Kannur

Kannur (Kerala): A shocking incident occurred on Sunday in Kannur after a police officer dragged a petrol pump staff on the car's bonnet for nearly a kilometer.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Anil, a staff member at NKBT petrol pump in Talap, Kannur, reportedly faced the attack from Police Mess Grade ASI K. Santosh Kumar (50) following a dispute over payment for petrol amounting to Rs 2100.

The situation escalated when Santosh Kumar suddenly accelerated the car, causing Anil to fall onto the bonnet. The vehicle continued moving forward on the busy national highway without stopping. Fortunately, Anil sustained only minor injuries to his hand. He recounted that if he hadn't held onto the bonnet, he might have lost his life.

Anil, determined to retrieve the remaining Rs 200 owed, attempted to stop the car as it tried to leave without payment. However, he found himself fighting for his life as the vehicle continued for about a kilometre with him hanging onto the bonnet, before finally coming to a stop.

Following Anil's complaint, the town police registered a case of attempted murder against the cop. Kannur City Police Commissioner Ajith Kumar confirmed that the accused officer has been suspended pending further investigation.
