Missing minor girl found dead in Bengal’s Dinhata jute field; rape and murder probe underway

Cooch Behar: Tension gripped the Dinhata area of Cooch Behar district after a minor girl, who had been missing since Wednesday morning, was found dead in a local jute field later that evening.
Residents and family members allege that the victim was raped before being brutally strangled to death with her own clothes.
According to sources, the minor had left her home on Wednesday morning but failed to return by nightfall.
Growing increasingly anxious, her family launched a frantic search, with several residents joining in to help locate the missing girl.
The search ended in tragedy shortly after when locals discovered her lifeless body dumped inside a nearby jute field.
Eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that the victim’s pants were tightly wrapped around her neck, indicating she had been choked to death.
-Upon receiving information about the grim discovery, a team from the Sahebganj Police Station rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
While preliminary investigations suggest that the minor was sexually assaulted and then murdered using her own attire to suffocate her, senior police officials stated that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed once the autopsy report is released.
Investigators are currently probing all angles to determine the sequence of events and ascertain how many individuals were involved in the crime.
