WB Polls 2026: Crude bombs recovered in South 24 Parganas

South 24 Parganas, West Bengal: In a major security operation ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, police recovered a large number of crude bombs in South 24 Parganas district.

Acting on specific inputs, a search operation was carried out in the Bamuniya area, where officials first retrieved a rifle from a nearby pond. The operation was then intensified, leading to the discovery of as many as 84 crude bombs concealed in the vicinity.

Police officials confirmed that the recovery is part of heightened surveillance and preventive measures to ensure peaceful polling in the region.

A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities from the Bijoyganj Bazar police station are probing the origin of the explosives and possible links to anti-social elements.
