From folk dancers to master craftsmen: Prayagraj’s National Crafts Fair off to a lively start

Prayagraj: The streets of Sangam City burst into colour and rhythm as artists in traditional attire staged a lively procession to mark the inauguration of the 32nd National Crafts Fair at the North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) campus.

Performers on Monday, depicted mythological and folk characters, transformed the city roads into a moving cultural tableau. Artisans from various states participated in the procession, proudly displaying their regional costumes, handcrafted works and distinctive folk dance traditions.

Many of the participating artisans expressed gratitude to the government for offering them a national platform to showcase their skills and cultural heritage.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture, the annual fair aims to celebrate India’s rich and diverse artistic traditions. This year’s edition is being held under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, which promotes cultural exchange and unity.

The National Crafts Fair will remain open till December 10, offering visitors an immersive experience of India’s vibrant handicrafts, art forms and folk practices.
