Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district has announced its annual monsoon closure, temporarily suspending core zone safari operations from July 1 to September 30. Known for its thriving population of tigers, leopards, bears, bison and rich biodiversity, the reserve follows this seasonal closure each year to support wildlife conservation and ensure tourist safety during heavy monsoon conditions.

Officials confirmed that visitors will still be able to experience wildlife tourism through buffer zone safari operations during the closure period. Safari activities will continue in designated areas including Bagra and Pipariya, allowing tourists to explore the forest while protecting sensitive core habitats.

According to reserve authorities, tourist arrivals have increased compared to last year. By May 2026, around 410,000 visitors had already explored the reserve, including 9,390 foreign tourists.

Core zone wildlife tourism is scheduled to resume from October 1.
