Hundreds of students across Puducherry are spending their summer vacations learning music, martial arts, and sports through a special free camp organized by the Directorate of School Education in association with the Jawahar Children’s Home.

The month-long “Summer Celebration” camp, running from May 2 to May 31, is being conducted at nine centers across the Union Territory for children aged between 6 and 16 years. Students are being trained in traditional instruments like violin, sitar, and mridangam, along with modern instruments such as guitar, keyboard, and drums. Sessions in karate, taekwondo, dance, and physical training are also being offered.

Students say the camp helps them stay active, reduce screen time, and build confidence during the holidays. A total of 43 trainers, including teachers and music students from Bharathiar University, are conducting the sessions. Certificates and prizes will be distributed at the end of the program.
