Prayagraj gears up for Magh Mela with QR-enabled power poles and crowd management plans
The Prayagraj district administration has stepped up preparations with less than two weeks until the start of the Magh Mela to guarantee a smooth and safe experience for the millions of pilgrims anticipated from all over the nation.
According to officials, teams from several departments are working nonstop to make necessary arrangements, with a focus on public safety, efficient crowd control, and a steady power supply.
As part of the power infrastructure plan, every electricity pole being installed at the Mela site will be fitted with a QR code connected to the central control room. Pilgrims can scan the code to instantly register complaints, enabling faster response and resolution of issues.
Crowd management has emerged as another major focus area. On Monday, the State Disaster Management Authority organised a symposium in Prayagraj to train and prepare personnel for handling large gatherings during the religious fair.
To further strengthen arrangements, the district administration will also receive support from the Army, which has previously assisted in managing large-scale events such as the Kumbh Mela.
The 44-day-long Magh Mela is scheduled to begin on January 3 and will conclude on February 15, 2026.
