Odisha artist creates world's smallest Jagannath Rath Yatra chariots using mustard seeds

An artist from Odisha's Kandhamal district has created what he claims are the world's smallest Jagannath Rath Yatra chariots using nearly 300 mustard seeds. N. Pratyush Kumar Choudhury, from Phulbani, spent six days crafting miniature chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, with the tallest measuring just 1.5 centimetres.

The artwork is inspired by an ancient legend of Lord Jagannath. According to Pratyush, mustard seeds hold special significance in the story of Neelamadhab, where Brahmin Vidyapati scattered them while searching for the hidden deity, and the sprouting seeds later helped him trace the path.

Pratyush hopes the intricate creation will earn recognition in national and international record books. This is not his first miniature achievement. He had earlier entered the Greenwich Book of Records by creating Rath Yatra chariots on a piece of chalk and even on a single grain of rice, showcasing his exceptional craftsmanship.
